Writing short stories did not come naturally to me. I prefer to write novels. Short stories do lend themselves better as offerings to critique groups, however. Also, writers are often advised to write and publish short stories before they dare to venture into the realm of novels. I didn’t do it that way, but neither do I presume to say that my approach is better.

I think I am the opposite and actually prefer short stories because of the length, in regards to writing. I have yet to write a novel though, so maybe my opinion will change. 🙂
